Artist Residency - 2010 53 Art Museum - Guangzhou

​The 53 Art Museum is the first non-profit private contemporary art museum in Guangzhou, China. It occupies an area of 1500 square meters within an old Factory. This space creates an unique environment that echoes history and trend. The museum is specifically designed for the exhibition of paintings, sculptures, installations, video and other various types of contemporary art works. Under the slogan of ”Stands on Guangdong and eyes on the world”; the 53 Art Museum is devoting itself to promoting art and acts as a platform for art exchange and the building of a new front for international contemporary art.

Philip was invited to be the first Artist in Residence at the Museum.

The “In search for the Bunyip” performances were held in Gallery A, a space of 200 square metres.

At the finish of the last performance, the audience all moved from gallery A, over to the wall of the Artist Residency block and waited patiently to take their turn to do some painting on the Mural – The Bushybush Journey.
